Voorbereidingscursus Cambridge Engels gevorderden (B2)
This English for Cambridge First (B2) course is taught in English and open to students of all nationalities.
The Cambridge exam at B2 level is a great way to prove to your employer or university that your English is of a high standard. For example, it is recognised internationally as evidence that you can speak, write and understand the language well enough live and work in an English-speaking country, or to follow an academic course taught in English. Of course, that also means that your English needs to be of a high standard in order to pass the test! For example, you already have a reasonable understanding of conditionals (‘If…., I will do/would do/would have done something’) and perfect tenses (‘I have been studying for years’; ‘I hadn’t realised there was so much to learn’), and your communication in English is starting to become fluid and spontaneous.
The text book we use for this course provides an excellent review of all the grammar you need to pass at B2 level, along with a large amount of very useful vocabulary. At the same time, you will also practise exercises of the type used in the Cambridge B2 First exams.
Every student taking part will be entitled to individual feedback on a number of practice essays, provided these are handed in throughout the course and completed as instructed in class. Please buy the course books before the first lesson. We will work through units 1-4 on this course. Units 5-8 will be covered in the course beginning in January. Some exceptionally able students may possibly be ready to take the exam after just 12 weeks, but most will need the full 24 weeks to work on their language skills. You should spend at least 2 hours each week on your homework. If you can spend more time studying, that would be better for you.
