Engelse Literatuur voor vergevorderden (C1/C2)
The English Literature Reading Group (C1/C2) is taught in English and open to students of all nationalities.
Do you love reading and discussing a good book in English? If so, we hope you will join us for our autumn ‘season of myths’ and fruitful discussions thereof! The teacher provides most of (but not all) the questions and together we go in search of answers. Whether you are new to this reading group or a returning student, you, your curiosity and your responses to what you read are what makes this course so interesting and so successful.
Please read The Essex Serpent before the first lesson, and select one paragraph to read aloud in class. We would also like to hear the reasons for each person’s choice – this could be just one sentence or perhaps a little more. It is an interesting way to ‘set the scene’ for further discussion. During the first lesson, we will also discuss the timeline of the book, and everyone will be able to choose (or suggest) a topic to prepare in a little more depth for a subsequent session. In later weeks, three or four students each week will give a very short presentation on their chosen topic (just 2-5 minutes) as a starting point for a group discussion of that topic. We will also discuss some short pieces (essays, articles or poems) selected by the teacher to complement the three novels.
